Meet Tim Ellen

A 1981 graduate of Auburn University with a B.A. in Public Relations, Tim has been in the life insurance business for 28 years, the last 20 as an agent with New York Life. Prior to this, Tim was a successful agent and manager with another insurance company in Alabama and Georgia.
After becoming an agent with New York Life Insurance Company in October, 1989, Tim was recognized as Rookie-of-the-Year for the Central Georgia General Office in 1990 and earned his Fellow designation (LUTCF) from the Life Underwriters Training Council in 1993. He completed a national certification program in retirement planning in 2006, and added the professional designation "Certified Long-Term Care Consultant" (CLTC) in 2008. He has qualified and attended the company’s council meetings at Executive level or higher for 20 consectuive years, and was honored by New York Life in 2009 as a "Senior NYLIC" and a "Lifetime Council Member."
In 2000, Tim was elected to the Agents Advisory Council (AAC), one of 23 agents elected company-wide to represent his peers before executive management. Tim ran and was elected for a second term in 2007, serving as Chair of the Underwriting and Service Committee at the AAC spring meeting in 2008. At the conclusion of that meeting, he was nominated for and elected to the AAC Executive Committee as Vice President for 2009, and he will serve as President of the AAC in 2010.
A qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT)* for the 16th time in 2009, Tim has reached the milestone of being a Qualifying & Life Member of this prestigious organization. He is a member of NAIFA, the insurance industry's professional association, a member of First Baptist Church On The Square, Immediate Past President of the West Georgia Auburn Club, and on the program committee of the LaGrange Gridiron Club. He is also a Distinguished Past President and senior member of Kiwanis Club of LaGrange.
Tim is married to the former Lisa Wilkerson of Opelika, Alabama, and is the proud father of three children, daughters Ragan and Taylor, and son, Spencer.

Rita Waugh joined our staff fulltime in April, 1998. A native of LaGrange, she is married to Fred Waugh and has two children, Jessie and Jacob.
Rita oversees all aspects of office management including marketing, client administration and scheduling. She works closely with our business management staff at the Central Georgia General Office in Macon, tracks new business processing and claims issues and also handles our in-house accounting.
